Summer Bridge 2023 (June - July)

Summer Bridge:  

The goal of this program is to acclimate incoming students to the culture and environment of West Campus, as well as offer them an opportunity to build relationships with their peers. Participants will engage in a variety of icebreakers and team-building activities, while also becoming familiarized with the campus layout and frequently used technology. The typical daily schedule will consist of an ice-breaker(s), tech focus, break, ice-breaker/game, WC focus, Q&A, game(s). Students may attend one day or all three days. Program content will have a different focus each day.

    • Intended Grade Level: Incoming 9th graders
    • Duration: July 17th through July 19th (M-F)
    • Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

AP Environmental Science Prep:  

Summer Preparation for AP Environmental Science – Explore and investigate the interrelationships of the natural world and analyze environmental problems, both natural and human-made. You’ll review some of the main skills that you will need to be successful.

    • Teacher: Ms. Bestgen (Room 46)
    • Intended Grade Level: 11th or 12th grade
    • Duration: July 24th through July 28th (M-F)
    • Time: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

AP Calculus (AB&BC) Prep:

Available to students who have passed Math 3+, Pre Calculus, or a more advanced Math class with at least a C. Students will review topics related to Trigonometry and will also get an opportunity to preview/review basic Calculus topics.

    • Teacher: Mr. Prashar (Room 42)
    • Intended Grade Level: 10th through 12th grade
    • Duration: July 10th through July 28th (M-F)
    • Time: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Public Speaking and Creative Writing:

By taking a course in public speaking, students become better acquainted with the public speaking process, making them more confident and less apprehensive. You will learn specific strategies for overcoming the challenges of speech anxiety.

Creative Writing is designed for students to create original forms of descriptive writing, poetry, drama, and fiction. Vocabulary development, creative writing techniques, and skills are explored. (Summer Bridge Program)

    • Duration: July 3, 5, 6, 7 and July 24-28
    • Time: 10:00 am -12:30 pm
